The ELKA Rainwear production complies with the common European CE Regulations, also known as EN Markings

EN 343 - PROTECTION AGAINST RAIN

Standards for thes method and requirements for fabric, seams and functionality. Applies to both waterproofability and breathability. This pictogram indicates the degree of protection provided.

The numbers next to the pictogram indicate:

X: The outer jacket's water resistance from the outside (waterproofability).

3 = Maximum protection
2 = Medium protection
1 = Minimum protection

Y: The water vapour resistance, the breathability of the garment and the ability to transport the body vapour from the inside and out through the outer material.

3 = Very good vapour transportation
2 = Medium vapour transportation
1 = Low vapour transportation

EN ISO 20471 - HIGH VISIBILITY CLOTHING

Replaces the EN standard EN 471:2003+A1:2007

The high visibility clothing is intended to provide conspicuity of the wearer in any light condition when viewed by operators of vehicles or other mechanized equipment during daylight conditions and under illumination of headlights in the dark. Performance requirements are included for colour and retroreflection as well as for the minimum areas and for the placement of the materials in protective clothing.

RIS 3279 TOM - RAILWAY GROUP STANDARD

The RIS 3279 TOM standard is based on the European standard EN 471:2003 + A1:2007. It requires garments to meet at least class 2 (the mid-point of a 3-class scale) of EN 471 for the minimum area of high-visibility materials used within a garment. Whereas the European standard permits several different colors of high-visibility materials, the railway standard specifies an orange color.

EN 342 - PROTECTION AGAINST COOL ENVIRONMENTS

This standard specifies requirements and test methods for the performance of garments for protection against the effects of cool environments equal to or below -5°C. These effects comprise not only low air temperatures, but also humidity and air velocity.

EN 14058 - PROTECTION AGAINST THE COLD

This standard specifies requirements and test methods for the performance of garments for protective against the effects of cool environments above -5°C. These effects comprise not only low air temperatures, but also humidity and air velocity.

EN 1186 - GLAS AND FORK

This product, which is labeled “Glass & Fork”, can be used as waterproof garments in the context ofworker tasks in the food processing industry, e.g. cleaning, slaughtering and packing.

EN ISO 13034 - PROTECTION AGAINST LIQUID CHEMICALS

Performance requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited protective performance against liquid chemicals (type 6 and type PB (6) equipment)

All our offshore products meet the European standards for protective features, performance and design. The requirements are established to improve the protecting effect and thus also the personal occupational safety.

EN 14605 - PROTECTION AGAINST LIQUID CHEMICALS

Performance requirements for clothing with liquid-tight (type 3) or spray-tight (type 4) connections, including items providing protection to parts of the body only (types PB (3) and PB (4))

Description is provided for the individual ELKA product.

EN 14126 - PROTECTION AGAINST INFECTIVE AGENTS

This standard specifies requirements and test methods for re-usable and limited use protective clothing providing protection against infective agents.

EN ISO 11611 - PROTECTION WHEN WELDING

This type of protective clothing is intended to protect the wearer against weld spatter (small splashes of molten metal), short-term contact with flames as well as radiant heat from the electric arc. Under normal welding conditions, it offers limited electrical insulation against electric conductors of up to 100 V DC. This standard sets out two classes with specific performance requirements (class 1 is for lower requirements, class 2 for higher requirements).

EN 1149-5 - PROTECTIVE CLOTHING ELECTROSTATIC PROPERTIES

Part 5: Requirements for the material’s performance and design

All our offshore products meet the European standards for protective features, performance and design. The requirements are established to improve the protecting effect and thus also the personal occupational safety.

EN ISO 14116 - PROTECTION AGAINST HEAT AND FLAME

Limited flame spred materials, material assemblies and clothing.

EN ISO 11612 - PROTECTION AGAINST HEAT AND FLAME

This international standard specifies the minimum requirements for clothing protecting against heat and/or flames. In a wide variety of fields of application, the wearer can also be exposed to convective, radiant or contact heat, as well as splashes of molten metal. Within the standard, letters A-F define the performance levels relating to the protective properties listed above.

IEC 61482-2 - PROTECTION AGAINST THE THERMAL HAZARDS OF AN ELECTRIC ARC

This type of protective clothing is intended to protect the wearer against thermal effects of a defined electric fault arc and prevents continued burning. The clothing protects the wearer against a certain type of heat in connection with an electric arc. The heat can be convective and radiating, caused by splashes of molten metal, or also a combination of the two aforementioned hazards.

Overview of symbols related to properties on ELKA products

WINDPROOF - WATERPROOF - BREATHABLE

The symbol is attached to ELKA workwear which is windproof, waterproof and breathable.

RECYCLED BY ELKA

The symbol is attached to products which are primarily crafted using recycled materials, including PET bottles.

ELKA STRETCH

The symbol is attached to ELKA workwear with stretch, a fabric created to ensure extra mobility and comfort while working.

ELKA ZIP-IN

ELKA ZIP-IN jackets can be zipped in and out as an insulating inner jacket. They are designed to fit, so the jacket can also be used separately - for both work and leisure. All jackets compatible with the Zip-In jackets has this symbol attached.

ELKA WINTER

The symbol is attached to the insulated and windproof products in the ELKA Winter collection.

DETACHABLE BRACES

The symbol is attached to ELKA combi trousers with detachable braces. The braces are easily fastened and removed with a zipper and loops.

DETACHABLE POCKETS

The symbol is attached to ELKA trousers with detachable hanging pockets. These are removed/put on easily via a zipper.

ZIPPER IN LEGS

The symbol is attached to ELKA trousers with zipper in legs. This facilitates the application and removal of the clothes.

POCKETS FOR KNEE PADS

The symbol is found on ELKA trousers and bib & braces, which have built-in pockets for knee pads. The knee pads can easily be inserted into the pockets, thereby reducing the strain on the knees.

FISH OIL RESISTANT

The fabric is tested for fish oil resistance. This means that the fabric does not dissolve and thus destroyed by contact with fish.

COLD RESISTANT

The fabric is tested against cold and is therefore particularly suitable when working in cold weather, down to -30°C, as the fabric does not crack or become stiff.

DETACHABLE SLEEVES

The symbol is attached to ELKA jackets with detachable sleeves. The sleeves are easy to attach/remove.

DETACHABLE LINING

The symbol is attached to ELKA jackets with detachable lining.

ELKA LESS WEIGHT

The symbol is attached to ELKA workwear which is made of a material of less weight than standard ELKA workwear.

REINFORCEMENT UNDER ARM

The symbol is attached to ELKA coveralls and smock models, which have reinforced welds under the arms. The welds are reinforced to prevent tearing during intense stretching.

REINFORCEMENT IN CROTCH

The symbol is found on ELKA coveralls, overalls, and trousers, which have reinforced welds in the crotch area. The welds are reinforced to prevent tearing during intense stretching.

REINFORCEMENT AROUND KNEE

The symbol is attached to ELKA products that's reinforced on the knees, both front and back.

REVERSIBLE

The symbol is found on ELKA bib & braces, which are the same on both sides, making them reversible. The functionality of the two sides is identical, and if wear occurs on one side, you can turn the overall inside out, thereby extending the product's lifespan.
